Dental Implants

Dental implants are one of the most effective restorative options available in dentistry today. Made of titanium, these screws or posts are implanted into the jawbone to support an artificial replacement tooth or crown. The result is a tooth that looks, feels, and functions just like a natural one.

When a patient has a missing tooth, dental implants offer a solution to prevent a number of problems. These problems can include the shifting of neighbouring teeth, bite issues, and decreased functionality, as well as the loss of supporting bone which can contribute to an aged and shortened facial structure.

By replacing a missing tooth with a dental implant, patients can avoid these issues and restore their natural smile.

What is the procedure like?

The dental implant procedure involves surgically placing the implant into the jawbone during one appointment.

This is followed by a healing phase that lasts between 3 and 4 months, which allows the implant to gradually fuse with your natural bone, a process known as ‘osseointegration’.

Once the implant is successfully merged with the jawbone, your crown or new tooth can be fixed to the post. Dental implants have a high success rate and can last a lifetime with proper oral care.
